Margins Give You Options

First, let me say thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me steer my new book Drive With Purpose to #1 New Release Best Seller on Amazon this month. This launch was successful because of you – I am beyond grateful and can’t wait to see you move from success to significance by sharing this message.   

Last weekend, I thought about the purpose of creating margins and the significance of having options. I was having a conversation with my brother on the phone after I finished my morning run. He was sharing how he recently found support for a project he was working on at work and how trying to find someone to help in his early career years was such a challenge because he didn’t know who to call. Over time, he invested in developing relationships that helped him build a network and how it has given him so many options when needing help. We then reminisced about listening to John Maxwell when we were younger and how he would talk about the importance of having margins in your life when it comes to finances. He would often share that when you have margins, or choosing to spend money wisely, you would have options or “wiggle room” when needed. In other words, you would deposit more than what you would take out and when something came up, you would be able to pay for it.

We then talked about how this concept is the same for people. When you invest more in people than you take out or ask, you will increase your margins. In other words, when you give and serve without asking for anything in return, you are creating margins. You see, when we communicate, we connect and when we connect, we build, we grow relationships and when we grow our relationhsips, we create margins. Now is a great time to “Drive With Purpose” and start increasing margins in your career.
