When I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma way back in 1993, I thought my learning was finished. I was so excited! No more studying, or reports due… It was over! Little did I realize the moment I was handed my diploma that the learning and development was actually just beginning. You see, in order for us to keep add value in our organizations, we must continue to find ways to learn and grow —- every day!
We can do this through several ways. Reading, Audio books, Podcasts, Conferences and more… I recently posted a “Best of Books” for 2019 to help anyone looking for ideas to get started. I have enjoyed reading during my career and learn so much from the different authors. Another way of learning and growing that I really enjoy is through “podcasts”. There are so many great people that have started podcasts to share their wisdom… and it’s all for FREE! How cool is that?! We can Grow, Connect and Move so much further by being purposeful in our learning.
When we listen to podcasts, it provides a different perspective, it creates ideas, it helps us connect with stories, and opens up opportunities for engagement with others.
Today, I want to share some of my “best of” podcasts that I have enjoyed in 2019:
The Brendon Show – Brendon Burchard | Impact Makers Podcast – Jennifer McClure | Six Degrees or Less – Seth McColley | Breakfast with Sis – Tony Bridwell and Alli Koch | Leaders and Lagers – Kevin Dawson | Pathways to Success – Julian Placino | Let’s Fix Work – Laurie Ruettimann | Work Life – Adam Grant | Lead to Win – Michael Hyatt and Megan Hyatt Miller | The Gary Vee Audio Experience – Gary Vaynerchuk | Company Culture – Daren and Elise Martin | Rise Podcast – Rachel Hollis | Working on Purpose – Alise Cortez | HR Social Hour – John Thurmond and Wendy Dailey | Sharing with Sher – Sherri Elliot-Yeary | HR Breakroom – Caleb Masters and Chelsea Justice | Big Girl Pants Podcast – Kimberly Shapiro and April Melton | …and more!
I have also been a guest on many of these shows and have seen the work each host puts in behind the scenes to make the show come to life. It takes a lot of time to prepare, set up, and edit.. It’s a lot of work! So, THANK YOU to all of the podcasters out there helping us get better every day!
oh… and Happy National Sound Check Day! check 1-2, 1-2!
Do you listen to podcasts? If so, what’s your favorite? I hope you will check out these podcasts to finish the year…
I learn about a new podcast every week. In fact, yesterday, I learned about “The Spillover Effect” by Michael Dickerson. Looking forward to listening. There are so many to choose from! According to google, there are more than 700,000 active podcasts and more than 29 million podcast episodes. There is something for everyone!
So, what did I miss? Share your favorites below… “Find Your Lane” and let’s Grow, Connect, and Move together in 2020!

Call to Action: Listen to a podcast listed above and share your takeaways on social media! You will create a deeper connection with others and create some great engagement… and just might lift someone up along the way! Share your favorite podcast too. I would enjoy hearing from you!
