A Fantastic Way To Reset

428 words | 3.4 Minutes

There are moments in life when a message hits you right between the eyes and forces you to reset—much like the game of bowling. When you roll the ball down the lane and knock down the pins, the lane has to be reset so you can keep playing.

Recently, I was listening to Darren Hardy’s daily video podcast when he shared his “secret weapons against life’s challenges.” As I absorbed his words, I reflected on the losses I had recently experienced in both my business and personal life. I felt as if I had lost momentum, like I was moving backward instead of forward—whether in sales, exercise, or relationships. Isn’t it funny how this tends to happen right after receiving good news? One moment, you are celebrating a great health check-up from your doctor, an achievement like making the President’s Club for sales performance, or enjoying an incredible weekend with family. And then, suddenly, the challenges come rushing in, much like Buddy the Elf hurling snowballs at rapid-fire speed in the movie Elf.

Corporate relocation has evolved with the rise of remote work, and higher interest rates have made home purchasing more difficult. The market has softened, competition has increased, social media is overwhelming, and the constant consumption of content can feel draining. Life is busy, and it can feel like you are trudging uphill—barefoot in the snow, as our grandparents used to say! All of this can leave you feeling stuck.

So, how do you push forward? You have to generate momentum! Momentum does not come all at once—it builds daily. Here is how to cultivate it:

  1. Focus on Winning What’s Next. Take it one step at a time. The next moment, the next hour, the next conversation, the next connection, the next opportunity. Be present and focus on winning the next thing in front of you.

  2. Entrench Support. Surround yourself with knowledge and inspiration. Read books, listen to podcasts, and connect with people. What can you learn today that will help someone else tomorrow?

  3. Embrace Failure. Failure is not the end—it is how we grow. It pushes us to improve, makes success feel even sweeter, humbles us, and forces us to pause, reflect, and redirect. You have to walk through the valley to reach the peak.

Life will always throw challenges on your way, but by building momentum each day, you can keep moving forward—one win at a time.

Quote of the Day: Do not take life so seriously, you will never get out alive.  -Bobby Ratliff
