Common Threads For Success
On this early cold February morning, I decided to run across the Lake Lewisville bridge in Little Elm Texas. It’s about .5 miles across the lake, and lights up with inspiration. During my run, I decided to pivot from listen to music to a podcast. John Maxwell is one of my favorites because he is a storyteller and stories move me on my journey. This morning, John shared an article he once read from a paper called “Investors Daily” called 10 Secrets to Success… As I listened, it reminded me about that the principles are timeless and we can all learn them. When we apply, we will have success. It also reminded me why it’s important to apply them – not just to have success, but to learn the traits so we can share with others so they can also experience success. When we help others, we move our careers from success to significance. We find purpose in our everyday. We find significance! After you read these traits, rank them high or low and share.
Here we go:
How you think,
Set a goal,
Take action,
Be a continuous learner,
Be persistent,
Analyze details,
Focus your time and money,
Be an innovator,
Communicate with people effectively
Take responsibility.
So, what do you think? How do you rank these 10 in your career? High or Low… I would enjoy hearing from you. Lastly, I want to share this story…
One day, a teacher was giving a test to his students, and the last test question read “tell me the name of the lady that cleans the school.” When class period was over, a boy asked the teacher if that question was going to impact his grade. The teacher replied “yes”. He then went on to say, during you’re career you will meet all people that are significant. They all deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello! So take time to stop, smile, and say hello to someone you don’t know in your building today!
Remember, you are significant – and we can move our career from success to significant when we help others on our journey!
Quote of the day… “First things first, last things never.” Peter Drucker
Call to Action – Share this with others along with an encouraging note. It could change their career… that’s significance!
