How far can I go?

Just finished the 100th podcast episode of Life in the Leadership Lane… What a journey it’s been speaking with 100 high achievers serving in leadership roles over the last 2 years. In a conversation following the show, I was asked about how long I was planning on doing the podcast. I responded with “as long as people will talk with me”.

When I wrote the book “Life in the Leadership Lane” I talked about the importance of having a growth mindset in chapter 2. You see, high achievers separate themselves with not just setting goals, but also having a growth mindset… it helps us see the bigger picture to move past the point of reaching our goals and onto the next. Many times, we set ourself a goal, then plateau because we reach the goal and don’t know how to build on it. Our mind was set on the goal and not the bigger picture of how achieving the goal is just a part of the process.

One of my favorite questions to help with growth mindset comes from an inspirational leader, Jesse Itzler. He is a businessman, motivational speaker, author, and ultra-marathon athlete. He once mentioned that growth mindset starts with asking the right questions. So instead of saying we did it, or we finally made it…lets start asking “how far can we go”?  That will move our thinking to another place – a place of growth mindset…

So, how far can I go after…

I get certified,

Get promoted,

Donate to a charity,

Make a policy change,

Develop a leadership program,

Run a 5k,

Win an award,

Start volunteering,

…and more!

When I started my podcast, I wanted to connect with high performers as well as stay visible, and educated. I didn’t think about 100 podcasts…I just thought about the next!. Now it’s time for me to ask myself, “how far can I go”?

How far can you go? Share your journey… others would enjoy sharing your story.
